Introducing your dog or puppy to enrichment doesn’t need to be complicated. The Bremel Paws Starter Treat Toy is designed as an easy introduction to food-based enrichment, helping them learn that exploring, nudging and interacting with a toy can lead to a tasty reward.

Simply fill with suitable dry treats or kibble and let your dog investigate. As they push, nudge and roll the toy, treats are released during play — giving them those important early “I worked it out!” moments that encourage them to keep exploring.

For puppies and dogs who are new to enrichment, starting with an achievable activity is important. If a toy is too challenging too soon, they may simply give up. The Starter Treat Toy gives them an easier way to learn the concept of working for their food, while encouraging curiosity, problem-solving and natural foraging behaviours.

It can also be a great way to turn part of your dog’s normal kibble allowance into an activity rather than simply serving it in a bowl.

Start here, then build the challenge. 

Once your dog confidently understands that interacting with the toy releases food, they’re ready to explore different challenges.

Move on to Roll & Reward and/or Paw & Reward, where they’ll need to use different movements and problem-solving skills to earn their rewards.

Every dog learns differently, so allow them to progress at their own pace. The goal isn’t to make enrichment difficult — it’s to give them something engaging, achievable and rewarding to work out.
